The House

The farmhouse itself was built in the Mid-Victorian era and was used as a working farmhouse for several generations. The farm land out the back is still used and Townend’s byre and piggery are still part of the house for you to explore. The house has been lovingly restored and is now a luxury home from home, With 3 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, an enormous bathroom and downstairs loo it’s suitable for the whole family, a group of friends and the whole gang to enjoy.

We have a large super king room with views out towards the village itself, another super king, which can also be converted into a twin room if necessary, with views of the river and woodland across the road, and a slightly smaller king room with views out on to The Howgills. Townend has a beautiful, large bathroom with roll-top bath and walk in shower. The vintage, cast iron bath is angled to see Wild Boar Fell while you’re soaking in the tub! There is also a loo downstairs for quick trips in from our wonderful garden.

A large kitchen/ living room is suitable for everyone to dine together and enjoy the cosy log burner and AGA in luxury and comfort on our brand new velvet and tweed sofas. The second living room/ parlour is a bright and beautiful room for those evening snuggles with a glass of wine in front of the open fire.

The entire house is designed with Cumbria in mind. Little touches of Cumbrian colour, terracotta, blues, greens and wallpaper of British flora and fauna in keeping with the house itself. It is quirky, we LOVE quirky, and all antiques! So, expect some antler curtain tie backs, heavy quilted Victorian curtains, furniture from the time the house was built and lots of special touches.
