The Garden

The garden is such a wonderful addition to Townend. With a sitting area out the back, tucked away behind the greenhouse, you have a wonderful spot for a glass of wine, some nibbles and a chat while gazing out over Wild Boar Fell in the distance,

The garden leads down onto the river which is a site of special scientific interest due to the presence of native crayfish. In fact, the whole village is a conservation area with red squirrels frequenting the woods across the road from Townend daily. The house itself has its own ducks which are looked after by local duck wrangler, Kenneth. They are such lovely additions to the river and really are such joyful ladies. Kenneth also looks after our lovely garden and greenhouse for you to enjoy. Say hello if you see him, he’s a friendly Geordie giant! Enjoy the lovely raised beds that Kenneth carefully tends throughout the year, beautiful flowers and our carefully landscaped piece of heaven.

There is also parking for 4 cars in the gravel entrance way to the garden for you to use when you stay with us.
